Congratulations to Gordon Advisors for being named one of the 2017 “Metropolitan Detroit’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.” We, the professionals working for Gordon Advisors, are the winners by virtue of employment at this forward-thinking firm.
We thank our mentors for their ability to lead by example, understand the value in every member and their obligation for investing in the next generation. Gordon shareholders make it a priority to grow their people through on-going training, lunch and learns, networking and one-on-one mentoring.
We are provided with challenging assignments, the tools to be successful and encouragement to present new ideas or methods. We have a culture of trust, inclusion, communication, positivity and humor. People at all levels take time every day to listen, to really get to know one another and share a laugh or two.
Gordon leaders function as a family unit that takes an interest in their employee’s lives and cares for their well-being. The firm thinks of our needs and follows through. For example, they heard our talk about aching body parts during the busy season and presented a solution: Yoga. We enjoy a weekly yoga session that was meant only to be a tax season benefit with the instructor coming to our office, yet the firm continues to provide the weekly sessions because of the positive feedback.
A firm that plays together stays together. We have a company picnic in August being held at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica with all employees and family members invited. Our recent firm-wide quarterly conference was held at The Great Escape Room in Royal Oak. The Sherlock-themed escape adventure forced us to work as a team, communicate, help and trust one another to put the pieces together and solve the puzzle to escape within 60 minutes.
Yes, we feel valued at Gordon Advisors. Personally, I appreciate the inclusion and communication, I attribute the firm’s success to our weekly meetings. Our one-hour weekly meeting brings the team together as one unit by getting us on the same page, up to speed and aligning our workloads and goals for the week. The expectations are clear and shared.
Our leaders are serious about providing exceptional client service, while embracing a culture with a sense of humor, inclusion, generosity, communication, positivity, mentoring, growth… Gordon Advisors’ leadership is sugar and spice and everything nice and I am glad to be part of the team.
